About Me
I am Kat. I have been a childminder in Worcester since December 2020, first with Ofsted, now with Tiney, an Ofsted registered childminding agency. I have two daughters aged 4 and 6, I have also looked after a range of children between 0-12 years old. I initially decided to train as a childminder as I was unable to return to my job after maternity leave due to covid lockdown. I had spent all of lockdown caring for my own young children at home, childminding seemed like a logical next step.
Since becoming a parent, then a childminder, I have done a lot of research about different parenting techniques and educational disciplines. I follow a gentle parenting approach, preferring natural consequences over authoritarian punishments. I am especially drawn to Steiner, Froebel and Charlotte Mason as their educational philosophies align with my instinctive way of parenting.
About the Setting
Children are welcomed into my setting as if it is their own home. The living room is our main indoor play area, and we also do some activities in the kitchen. There is a downstairs toilet with handwashing facilities. We have a small, contained back garden for children to explore and play in.
We go outside everyday, either in the garden or for short walks around the local area. We visit the woods, canal, parks, library, shops and playgroups.
We are a Hygge in the Early Years accredited setting, Hygge is the Danish approach to life that focuses on having a happier and more simple life. Using elements of warmth, cosiness and nature to make the most of every day of the year.
In line with the Hygge approach, we loosely follow the Exploring Nature With Children curriculum, a seasonal nature study which encourages children to connect with their natural environment.
