Inspired by Rudolf Steiner, Charlotte Mason and Friedrich Froebel, I offer play based learning in a safe and nurturing home environment. Some of the key principles that I follow are:
Children are a whole being and each child has different academic, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
Children have a natural curiosity and will learn through creative play. I allow plenty of time for creative, child-led play both indoors and outdoors.
Children learn through imitation. Therefore I try to be a positive role model showing good habits and self control. I also model practical life skills such as cooking, tidying, and gardening.
Engaging with nature and the local environment is vital for children to feel connected to their world. It is also good for their wellbeing.
I offer a safe, nurturing, unhurried learning environment where children are free to explore and have time to make their own discoveries. Children are subtly invited to take part in various activities, but they are free to choose how much or little they participate.
Rhythm and repetition helps children to transition peacefully throughout the day. It builds a sense of security and stability when a rhythm is predictable and safe.
The importance of beauty and wonder. Children can appreciate fine and delicate items. They are shown how to care for our toys and resources and to treat things with respect. We show reverence and fascination as we experience beauty through art, music, and literature.
